Why tradies switch
Faster quotes, the same maths every time.
Per-m² rates that are yours
Your interior $/m² isn't the industry average — it's the number that works for your crew, your suppliers, your margin. Set it once in onboarding, every future quote rebases.
Prep tiers stop the under-bill
Light prep is in the rate. Medium (full sand + fill) and heavy (strip + render + primer) bill separately, so a tough job doesn't quietly eat your margin.
Two-storey scaffolding is a one-tap toggle
Tick 'needs scaffolding' on the exterior section and the flat-fee hire line auto-appears. No hunting through your phone for the access-hire quote.
Under the bonnet
Why a $/m² rate beats SKU-level pricing
Painting estimates that itemise every can of paint look thorough but mislead. A 20m² ceiling needs 2L of paint per coat at 10 sqm/L — that's $42 of materials for two coats with Dulux Wash & Wear. The labour is $200. Materials are a rounding error against labour for 95% of residential painting jobs.
A flat $/m² rate (your number, $42/m² for interior is the AU 2026 median) bundles supply + labour into one figure that's easy to scale up or down per quote. The engine still lets you switch brand to drive the supply cost, but the headline number stays clean.
Where the engine adds value is the EDGE CASES — heavy prep, scaffolding, doors/windows itemised separately. Those are the things that under-bid quotes silently miss. The standard rate covers the standard job; the toggles surface every cost above standard so your margin stays intact.
Painting · FAQ
Trade-specific questions.
The questions paint job tradies actually ask. Want to see how it works on a real job?
Does it handle different paint brands (Dulux / Wattyl / Resene)?
Yes. The lookup table carries supply cost per litre for nine AU brands. Pick the brand on the quote; the engine handles coverage maths internally so your $/m² rate stays the right one.
What about feature walls / colour change rooms?
Add as an Extras line with a flat-rate add. The engine doesn't auto-calculate feature walls because brand + colour + 3 coats varies too much — but the line shows on the customer's PDF.
Can I quote a roof clean without a repaint?
Use the roof section, override the $/m² rate to your clean-only number. Tick include_roof but skip the prep + scaffolding flags if the job is just pressure-wash.
