Already in the template

The maths your Excel sheet keeps getting wrong.

Everything below is baked into the fence template before you sign up. You answer your business questions once in onboarding, every quote rebases.

  • 01

Post count derived from run-length ÷ spacing (Colorbond 2400, timber 2700, pool 1500)

  • 02

Footing concrete bags per post — scales with depth + diameter, cyclonic-zone aware

  • 03

Gate frame + hardware + install-labour bundled per gate type (ped vs drive)

  • 04

Demolition + tip fee per linear metre when removing existing fencing

  • 05

    Height-factor multiplier on materials for 2.1m / 2.4m runs

Why tradies switch

Faster quotes, the same maths every time.

/01

Post + footing maths is automatic

Type 30m of 1.8m Colorbond, the engine works out 13 posts, 16 bags of rapid-set, the right footing volume — no scribbled calcs in the ute.

/02

Pool glass priced honestly

Pool fencing is a different game — AS 1926.1 spacing, glass panels, spigots, stainless hardware. Pick 'pool glass' and the rate jumps to its $/lm band without you remembering.

/03

Gates aren't an afterthought

Each gate (pedestrian + driveway) carries its frame + hinges + lock + install labour. Customer sees one gate line, not five SKUs.

Under the bonnet

How the engine sizes posts + footings

Post count isn't `length ÷ spacing` — it's `ceil(length ÷ spacing) + 1`, because the last post is a terminus, not a span. A 30m Colorbond run at 2400mm spacing is 13 posts (12 spans + 1 end). The engine encodes that so you never short a post.

Footing concrete scales by depth × diameter. A 600mm × 300mm hole takes one 20kg rapid-set bag; a 900mm × 400mm cyclonic footing takes about 2.4 bags. Multiply by post count for the materials line. The lookup table on the template handles the conversion, so you just pick the depth from the dropdown.

Height factor: at 1800mm the materials cost is the lookup rate × 1.0. At 2400mm it's × 1.33 to cover the taller sheet + the deeper rail. Customers paying for a 2.4m privacy fence get billed at the real materials cost, not a Colorbond-1.8 estimate that loses you margin.

Fencing · FAQ

Trade-specific questions.

The questions fence tradies actually ask. Want to see how it works on a real job?

  • Does it handle cyclonic-zone footings?

Yes — footing depth is a job-input. 600mm for most metro, 750mm wind-locked coastal, 900mm cyclonic. The engine scales concrete-bag count automatically per post.

  • Can I quote a partial demolition?

Yes. The demolition length is separate from the new fence run — useful when you're only replacing part of a line. Tip fee is a flat add-on so it doesn't get forgotten.

  • What about brick capping or rendered piers?

Not yet — that's a Phase 2 addition. For now, add as a free-text 'Extras' line at quote time and the engine handles the labour separately.
